Kevin Kirchner studied Secure Information Systems at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria and completed his bachelor’s degree in 2016. In his thesis, he focused on the planning and implementation of BYOD concepts with regard to operational information security. He then completed a master’s program in the same course of studies and was awarded the title of Master of Science in 2018. The main topics of his master’s thesis were programming, cryptography and code analysis.
The focus of Kevin Kirchner’s studies and interest mainly is on network engineering and security, cryptography, secure software development and digital forensics. During his studies, he authored several works on security mechanisms in corporate networks, advanced attacking techniques and code reviews, and he carried out various projects in these areas. Privately, he engages himself in the Linux operating system and free software.
During an internship in 2015, Kevin Kirchner already worked at cirosec GmbH and collaborated on penetration tests of web applications and research activities. The latter included, among others, the security of networked control systems and industrial protocols such as Modbus. Since he completed his master’s program in 2018, Kevin Kirchner has been permanently employed at cirosec as a consultant.
