Marco Lorenz studied Applied Computer Science and Mathematics at Fulda University of Applied Sciences. He completed his studies with a thesis on Internet security at the Karlsruhe Research Center.
Having started his career as an IT security consultant in 1999, he was mainly responsible for the setup and operation of complex firewall environments and IT security solutions for customers in the automotive sector.
In 2002, he was one of the co-founders of cirosec, where he has since been working as a consultant. He has focused on the fields of traceability of administrative access, forensics, vulnerability management and secure file exchange from the beginning. Most of the customers he supports are large corporations with very heterogeneous infrastructures.
Having played a major part in building cirosec’s incident response team, Marco Lorenz now has a leading role in this team. As an Incident Manager, he assists incident response SLA customers in handling security incidents.
He is an instructor of the cirosec trainings “Incident Handling & Response” and “Hacking Extreme” and plays a vital role in developing these trainings. Moreover, Marco Lorenz speaks at different conferences and writes articles in technical journals on current IT security topics. His responsibilities also include the strategic development of cirosec’s internal IT department.
